The Government of Kenya, through the Ministry of Water and Irrigation established the Water Services Trust Fund (WSTF) under the Water Act 2002 to channel funding for its long-term objectives of developing water and sanitation services in areas of Kenya without adequate water.
Following the enactment of the Water Act 2002 as the legal framework to guide the development of a responsive and effective water sector, a Water Services Trust Fund was established in Kenya as part of the implementation of the Act.
